Amanda Maud
Amanda was born in Red Lake and spent her early years in Balmertown and Skownan First Nation. Amanda moved to her Mother’s home community in Lac Seul First Nation in 1992 and attended high school in Pelican Falls. Amanda was drawn to policing from a young age – Amanda’s mother served as a board member of the LSPS Board from 1995 until 2008. Amanda became a LSPS Auxiliary Officer in the early 2000s, serving until she left the Service to raise her young family. Amanda went on to work with Tikinagan Child and Family Services as a Residential Councillor and a Childcare Worker within LSFN, as well as working as a House Parent for youth at the Pelican Falls High School.
Amanda is currently a Teaching Assistant at the Morris Thomas Memorial School in Whitefish Bay.
Amanda served on the LSPS Board in 2015-2016 and rejoined the Board in 2022. Amanda’s goals center around strengthening communications between LSPS, the Board and community members, increasing accountability and transparency, and building trust. Amanda highly values the connections made between LSPS Officers and youth in the community, like those made when Officers participate in community events like the Every Child Matters Walk.
